Come see the Dragons awaken! Join us on Saturday, September 6th at 8:00 AM at Stone Lake in La Porte for an unforgettable spectacle as the Dragon Boats take to the water! These impressive boats, powered by teams from local businesses, non-profits, and individuals, will compete for prizes—all to support Dunebrook’s programs which serve local children and families. The Dragon Boat Race is the highlight of our Dragon Boat Family Festival, which also features delicious food trucks and a fun, family-friendly kids zone. Admission is free for spectators, so bring the whole family and cheer on your favorite team!
Dunebrook’s Dragon Boat Family Festival is an exciting, all-ages event that brings the community together for a day of fun and purpose.
Unlike traditional races that rely on athleticism, dragon boat racing is all about teamwork and synchronization, making it an ideal team-building activity for businesses, faith groups, schools, families, friends, and organizations.
Spectators and teams are encouraged to bring sun canopies, beach chairs, and blankets to stay comfortable throughout the day. While swimming is not permitted during the races, guests can still enjoy the many amenities at Stone Lake, including a playground, spacious beach, picnic areas, public restrooms, and free, handicap-accessible parking.
Nelson's Port-A-Pit Food Sales
On September 5th Nelson's Port-A-Pit will be available at 300 Grangemouth near the boat house. Advance tickets are recommended to ensure your meal is hot and ready to go! Food will be available from 4:00 PM - 7:30 PM on Friday, September 5th only. The menu includes:
1/2 Port-A-Pit Chicken - $10
Cup of Pit-Tatoes - $5
Veggie Burger - $7
